Retranscription des paroles de la vidéo: what’s up everybody Ron flaccone here reporting for status coup if you like pornography and you live in Utah things just got a little harder pun intended so it turns out the Church of Latter-day Saints has taken over all pornography distribution in Utah the only website you can go to is a website called Mormons gone wild it features people in goofy underwear drinking coffee all right I’m just kidding that’s not that’s not the News That’s not the news that’s not a real thing I just made that up okay here’s what actually happened PornHub has decided to block access in all of Utah why well here’s what’s going on this is from CNN PornHub blocks access in Utah over age verification law so some of the internet’s biggest adults websites including PornHub are now blocking access to Utah users over a new age verification law that takes effect on Wednesday now we reported on this policy uh over here on status quo a little while ago I also talked about it on my show get your news on with Ron PornHub and other adult sites controlled by its parents mind geek began blocking visitors with utah-based IP addresses this week now instead of seeing adult content when visiting those sites affected users are shown a message expressing concern to uh SB 287 that’s the Utah law signed by Governor Spencer Cox in March that creates liability for porn sites that make their content available to people below the age of 18. here’s their quote as you may know your elected officials in Utah are requiring us to verify your age before allowing you access to our website the message said while safety and compliance are at the Forefront of our mission giving your ID card every time you want to visit an adult platform is not the most effective solution for protecting our users and in fact we’ll put children and your privacy at risk so this new policy requires people to submit identification verification and pertinent information to their ID every time they want to go on an adult website this creates a huge liability for pornhub or any other website that has to handle all of that data it makes them very susceptible for hacking it ain’t good they don’t want that kind of liability can’t say I blame them so they’re saying look we’re just not going to make your website available in this area now now I understand that you don’t want people not of the appropriate age going on porn websites I certainly get that but again this is not the solution one it will lead to significant security concerns again entering ID information every single time that is a disaster waiting to happen this also could lead to more censorship on the web they’re going to start with porn sites who knows where they’re going to stop what’s going to be next is it going to be all social media is it going to be abortion information is it going to be lgbtq information and resources keep in mind we are dealing with the state of Utah here uh this could also let’s be real here folks this could lead the youth to more dangerous parts of the web I understand we’re trying to keep people off of porn sites that aren’t of the appropriate age to be there but let’s be real when younger people want to get porn they’re going to find a way this is coming from somebody who is just old enough to remember when we buried Playboys in the woods all right I’m just old enough to remember that barely old enough but nonetheless old enough to remember it my point is look these kids they’re gonna try to find stuff one way or another doing something like this could potentially lead them to more dangerous parts of the web uh so this is an overreaching and ineffective policy and now you can’t even go to Pornhub if you’re in Utah now while all this is going on out in Utah there’s another thing going on and that’s the bill Cosa the kids online safety act now similar to uh the bill in Utah the intentions of this bill uh sound Noble they sound like yeah we want to keep kids safe online we want to keep kids away from the toxicity of social media as much as possible to give them a positive social media experience or at least as positive as any social media experience can be I totally get that I think that social media is very toxic for all of us but it’s especially toxic for children I can’t imagine if something like Facebook existed when I was in Middle School I I can only imagine that we had aim at that point that was enough so I totally get that but here’s the thing with Cosa Cosa is also a very very overreaching bill it is written in a very uh vague context it could lead to more censorship we’re going to get into that in just a second but here’s the deal Cosa has some kind of unlikely sponsors here or uh rather sponsors not the Whiteboard supporters and uh one of their big supporters is lizzo so lizzo has been called on to end support of the kids online safety act amid concerns over censorship so lizzo who you know I don’t know lizzo personally obviously but she seems to be uh seems to be a pretty good person who who has a decent um you know a decent awareness when it comes to issues out there and I would imagine if lizzo was aware of all the details of this bill uh she would not be in support of it I I think she is likely not aware of the um the full nature of this bill uh so the activist group fight for the future who I collaborate with Once lizzo to stop supporting a bill that’s been condemned by the ACLU glad and the national Center for transgender equality so earlier this month lizzo partnered with dub to help promote the kids online safety act with an online petition her involvement with the project included a statement explaining her support of the bill social media is supposed to be a place where people can express themselves and be a source for beauty confidence not anxiety seeing the negative impact of social media on youth mental health today is devastating and has to stop join us to use your voice to help make change again this all sounds great this sounds like a noble cause and if this bill was actually doing that well this would be a cool Bill to support unfortunately here’s the real deal with this bill the activist group fight for the future on April 26 shared a petition calling on lizzo to revert her support for the bill opponents of the bill noted that it’s been condemned by organizations including the ACLU glad and the national Center for transgender equality over concerns that the bills that vague language could potentially lead to conservative-led censorship of lgbtq content reproductive Health Care sources excuse me reproductive health care resources and more so let’s go to the letter itself so here’s the big problem with Cosa Cosa would allow State Attorneys General think Ken Paxton from Texas who is actively investigating the families of trans children to dick dictate what content platforms are allowed to recommend to underage users well the Bill’s supporters fantasize that this will incentivize platforms to moderate more responsibly for example by removing content promoting Eating Disorders the reality is that they will simply moderate in a more risk-averse way for example by suppressing all content where Eating Disorders are discussed at all even if it’s important self-help content or contact directing young people to resources for support again this is this is similar to all the algorithms that aren’t actually humans that can understand context and Nuance that are just deciding what to censor and what not to censor this is that whole Playbook being seen all over again more than 100 human rights organizations oppose Cosa meanwhile the right-wing Heritage Foundation supports it and is said it will help stop big Tech from quote turning kids trans we know this is not the team lizzo wants to be on online so that’s what’s really going on with Cosa it’s an overreaching piece of legislation it’s written in a very vague way it could hurt the ability of young people uh to connect with lgbtq resources and lgbtq communities and support that they have online so there are just tons of inadequacies of this bill now they’re claiming that this bill has been Rewritten Senator Blumenthal has claimed on social media that oh no no we reworked this bill and we addressed all of the concerns that groups like fight for the future pointed out however groups like fight for the future and others have indicated no you haven’t we looked at the most recent version of the bill and no our minds are not at ease we are still in opposition to this bill so please go to fight for the future.org to learn more and folks I will be on the road you can catch me on tour May 12th I’ll be in Los Angeles California that’s my third show of three working on my Edinburgh hour June 16th Madison June 17th Minneapolis Minnesota June 23rd Detroit June 28th Bloomington Indiana and June 29th Chicago August 16th through 27th I’ll be at the 0.0 what’s up everybody Ron flaccone here
.92 reporting for status coup if you like
.319 pornography and you live in Utah things
.2 just got a little harder pun intended so
.04 it turns out the Church of Latter-day
.96 Saints has taken over all pornography
.78 distribution in Utah the only website
.3 you can go to is a website called
.98 Mormons gone wild it features people in
.5 goofy underwear drinking coffee all
.72 right I’m just kidding that’s not that’s
.98 not the News That’s not the news that’s
.18 not a real thing I just made that up
.56 okay here’s what actually happened
.099 PornHub has decided to block access in
.04 all of Utah why well here’s what’s going
.32 on this is from CNN PornHub blocks
.219 access in Utah over age verification law
.879 so some of the internet’s biggest adults
.76 websites including PornHub are now
.5 blocking access to Utah users over a new
.02 age verification law that takes effect
.12 on Wednesday now we reported on this
.039 policy uh over here on status quo a
.92 little while ago I also talked about it
.42 on my show get your news on with Ron
.1 PornHub and other adult sites controlled
.92 by its parents mind geek began blocking
.68 visitors with utah-based IP addresses
.08 this week now instead of seeing adult
.06 content when visiting those sites
.799 affected users are shown a message
.42 expressing concern to uh SB 287 that’s
.28 the Utah law signed by Governor Spencer
.56 Cox in March that creates liability for
.2 porn sites that make their content
.7 available to people below the age of 18.
.159 here’s their quote
.78 as you may know your elected officials
.6 in Utah are requiring us to verify your
.939 age before allowing you access to our
.86 website the message said while safety
.14 and compliance are at the Forefront of
.579 our mission giving your ID card every
.1 time you want to visit an adult platform
.079 is not the most effective solution for
.2 protecting our users and in fact we’ll
.72 put children and your privacy at risk so
.659 this new policy requires people to
.399 submit identification verification and
.1 pertinent information to their ID every
.979 time they want to go on an adult website
.039 this creates a huge liability for
.7 pornhub or any other website that has to
.22 handle all of that data it makes them
.319 very susceptible for hacking it ain’t
.959 good they don’t want that kind of
.76 liability can’t say I blame them so
.22 they’re saying look we’re just not going
.2 to make your website available in this
.66 area now now I understand that you don’t
.26 want people not of the appropriate age
.239 going on porn websites I certainly get
.879 that but again this is not the solution
.739 one it will lead to significant security
.9 concerns again entering ID information
.239 every single time that is a disaster
.56 waiting to happen this also could lead
.5 to more censorship on the web they’re
.9 going to start with porn sites who knows
.36 where they’re going to stop what’s going
.739 to be next is it going to be all social
.36 media is it going to be abortion
.819 information is it going to be lgbtq
.64 information and resources keep in mind
.98 we are dealing with the state of Utah
.2 here uh this could also let’s be real
.019 here folks this could lead the youth to
.019 more dangerous parts of the web I
.42 understand we’re trying to keep people
.58 off of porn sites that aren’t of the
.26 appropriate age to be there but let’s be
.72 real
.519 when younger people want to get porn
.8 they’re going to find a way this is
.44 coming from somebody who is just old
.36 enough to remember when we buried
.099 Playboys in the woods all right I’m just
.739 old enough to remember that barely old
.54 enough but nonetheless old enough to
.459 remember it my point is look these kids
.22 they’re gonna try to find stuff one way
.799 or another doing something like this
.54 could potentially lead them to more
.519 dangerous parts of the web
.739 uh so this is an overreaching and
.14 ineffective policy and now you can’t
.72 even go to Pornhub if you’re in Utah now
.959 while all this is going on out in Utah
.0 there’s another thing going on and
.34 that’s the bill Cosa the kids online
.92 safety act now similar to uh the bill in
.659 Utah the intentions of this bill uh
.139 sound Noble they sound like yeah we want
.9 to keep kids safe online we want to keep
.6 kids away from the toxicity of social
.06 media as much as possible to give them a
.66 positive social media experience or at
.82 least as positive as any social media
.16 experience can be I totally get that I
.22 think that social media is very toxic
.86 for all of us but it’s especially toxic
.44 for children I can’t imagine if
.199 something like Facebook existed when I
.54 was in Middle School I I can only
.16 imagine that we had aim at that point
.979 that was enough so I totally get that
.22 but here’s the thing with Cosa Cosa is
.18 also a very very overreaching bill it is
.78 written in a very uh vague context it
.139 could lead to more censorship we’re
.699 going to get into that in just a second
.38 but here’s the deal Cosa has some kind
.16 of unlikely sponsors here or uh rather
.34 sponsors not the Whiteboard supporters
.02 and uh one of their big supporters is
.72 lizzo
.1 so lizzo has been called on to end
.919 support of the kids online safety act
.02 amid concerns over censorship so lizzo
.8 who you know I don’t know lizzo
.06 personally obviously but she seems to be
.699 uh seems to be a pretty good person who
.16 who has a decent um you know a decent
.56 awareness when it comes to issues out
.419 there and I would imagine if lizzo was
.6 aware of all the details of this bill uh
.32 she would not be in support of it I I
.6 think she is likely not aware of the um
.96 the full nature of this bill uh so the
.96 activist group fight for the future who
.639 I collaborate with Once lizzo to stop
.68 supporting a bill that’s been condemned
.18 by the ACLU glad and the national Center
.699 for transgender equality so earlier this
.639 month lizzo partnered with dub to help
.44 promote the kids online safety act with
.419 an online petition her involvement with
.46 the project included a statement
.84 explaining her support of the bill
.28 social media is supposed to be a place
.139 where people can express themselves and
.759 be a source for beauty confidence not
.38 anxiety seeing the negative impact of
.66 social media on youth mental health
.22 today is devastating and has to stop
.02 join us to use your voice to help make
.18 change again this all sounds great this
.479 sounds like a noble cause and if this
.699 bill was actually doing that well this
.979 would be a cool Bill to support
.44 unfortunately here’s the real deal with
.3 this bill the activist group fight for
.4 the future on April 26 shared a petition
.38 calling on lizzo to revert her support
.66 for the bill opponents of the bill noted
.58 that it’s been condemned by
.66 organizations including the ACLU glad
.18 and the national Center for transgender
.56 equality over concerns that the bills
.9 that vague language could potentially
.58 lead to conservative-led censorship of
.8 lgbtq content reproductive Health Care
.919 sources excuse me reproductive health
.5 care resources and more so let’s go to
.34 the letter itself so here’s the big
.919 problem with Cosa Cosa would allow State
.74 Attorneys General think Ken Paxton from
.139 Texas who is actively investigating the
.12 families of trans children to dick
.039 dictate what content platforms are
.139 allowed to recommend to underage users
.3 well the Bill’s supporters fantasize
.52 that this will incentivize platforms to
.62 moderate more responsibly for example by
.319 removing content promoting Eating
.06 Disorders the reality is that they will
.46 simply moderate in a more risk-averse
.8 way for example by suppressing all
.38 content where Eating Disorders are
.479 discussed at all even if it’s important
.759 self-help content or contact directing
.52 young people to resources for support
.5 again this is this is similar to all the
.56 algorithms that aren’t actually humans
.02 that can understand context and Nuance
.539 that are just deciding what to censor
.0 and what not to censor this is that
.22 whole Playbook being seen all over again
.44 more than 100 human rights organizations
.08 oppose Cosa meanwhile the right-wing
.78 Heritage Foundation supports it and is
.18 said it will help stop big Tech from
.52 quote turning kids trans we know this is
.0 not the team lizzo wants to be on online
.699 so that’s what’s really going on with
.28 Cosa it’s an overreaching piece of
.74 legislation it’s written in a very vague
.74 way it could hurt the ability of young
.199 people uh to connect with lgbtq
.979 resources and lgbtq communities and
.08 support that they have online so there
.539 are just tons of inadequacies of this
.76 bill now they’re claiming that this bill
.159 has been Rewritten Senator Blumenthal
.68 has claimed on social media that oh no
.959 no we reworked this bill and we
.72 addressed all of the concerns that
.12 groups like fight for the future pointed
.16 out however groups like fight for the
.92 future and others have indicated no you
.92 haven’t we looked at the most recent
.899 version of the bill and no our minds are
.779 not at ease we are still in opposition
.24 to this bill so please go to fight for
.519 the future.org to learn more and folks I
